First day of the Ontario tour, or Central Canada Tour as some have suggested.  For sure it is not the Eastern Canada Tour as we have been informed. Western mistake. So what does a band do on the first day? Well, all of this:

1. CKLN 88.1fm Toronto (Ryerson campus)

We started the day off with a visit to “Corby’s Orbit” on CKLN 88.1 fm in Toronto.  It is the Ryerson campus station, hosted by the enthusiastic Paul Corby, a great supporter of the band, and of great Canadian independent roots music all around.  We actually were aquainted to the campus by another music enthusiastic, the barista in the coffee shop downstairs, who covered a lot of musical bases in a very short time and ended with a complimentary coffee to take up to the station.

It was nice, we talked, we played a song (photo), we invited people to come to our show on March 30. Its what we do.  Sometimes radio works.

2. CIUT 89.5 fm Toronto (U of T campus)

What a beautiful campus.  Maybe people out here take it for granted. The architecture is incredible. Love it. We booted over from the previous interview and arrived to setup for a live performance taping in the CIUT studio. Nice people, Andi and Jonathan and crew, and we played a few songs (This Is It, Lefty, Nervous Bird, One Of These Nights) that will air on Monday morning, the day before our show at The Cadillac Lounge.  There is a photo and an mp3 of Nervous Bird from that session here.  CIUT has always been a good supporter of our music, so it was a treat to stop by and give them some live music.

3. Jimmy Jazz show, Guelph ON

We ended the day with a short drive out to Guelph, to kick off the tour officially.  Jimmy Jazz is run by a great music guy (Tim) and ironically the door guy was Aaron, who hosted the local college radio show which I had phoned into to chat about the gig only days earlier.  Good people, good fun, good start.
